Elizabeth Cullen, District Governor 2007-2008

Liz has been a member of the Rotary Club of Newburyport since 1997.  She has served as secretary, treasurer, president, their Interact liaison and foundation chair.   In 1993, she received the Newburyport Rotary Club’s President’s Citation for Service Above Self.  She has served District 7780 as an Assistant Governor, Chaired the District Membership Committee last year and was a member of last year’s District Conference and Program Chair.  In February 2004, she was a member of an NID Team to India.  She is a multiple PHF and Benefactor.

Liz is a graduate of Wheaton College, where she majored in German and minored in French and History.  She did undergraduate and graduate work in German language and literature at the University of Vienna, Austria.  She received a Master’s Degree in teaching modern foreign language from Boston University.

She taught German, French, History, English and Social Studies in England and New Hamsphire.  She still on occasion substitute teaches German, French and Spanish.

She has served as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Newburyport, Vice President of the Newburyport District Nursing Service and an Incorporator of the Anna Jacques Hospital Foundation.  She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Newburyport YWCA and the board of the Parents, Committee of Shore Country Day School.

She is married to Bernie Cullen, a founding partner of Cambria Consulting in Boston.  Bernie is a PHF.  They have three children – Sarah, Alexander and Philip.
