Group Study Exchange
About Group Study Exchange (GSE)
In the spring of 2013, Rotary will provide scholarships for four or five young special education professionals (age 25 to 40) to travel to Nigeria to teach in the schools.
They will be in-country for one month and be hosted by Rotarians in their homes. Before they depart, the exchange team will develop lesson plans for both the students and their teachers, to bring new instructional meth-ods and help “train the trainers” in West Africa. They will also visit cultur-al sites -- wildlife preserves, mosques and African villages -- on the week-end. They will return to their teaching jobs in this country with real expe-rience of what schooling is like in a developing nation; having experienced West African cul-ture first hand, and with having been hosted by both Muslim and Christian families in a coun-try where these two religions exist side-by-side.
