Our District hosted the first-ever Mongolian Group Study Exchange team member back in 2011. He was a medical doctor, accustomed to working without sufficient medical supplies that have been in short supply since the breakup of the Soviet Union. Now, a Rotary Foundation Grant is under way to change that situation and send medical equipment to Mongolia. You can get involved!
District 7870 in New Hampshire and Vermont has initiated a Global Grant with the Ulan Bator and Erdenet Rotary Clubs in Mongolia. For this grant,
* A medical equipment needs assessment in outlying provinces of Mongolia is under way by the newly chartered Rotary Club of Erdenet.
* Presentations of the need and a search for monetary pledges are being made. Already, District 7870 has pledged $15,000 in matching funds for the project.
* Refurbished medical equipment and logistics issues are under investigation.
