Significant Achievement Award

Each district governor may nominate only one eligible club from his or her district. Nominations must be received at RI World Headquarters by the close of business on 15 March. Nominations received after the deadline will be ineligible.

Criteria:

The Significant Achievement Award recognizes a Rotary Club of their outstanding community service project which have done the following:
  •  Addresses a significant problem or need in the local community (international service projects,      no matter how worthy, are not eligible for this award)
  •  involves most or all club members in personal rather than monetary service
  •  Been commensurate with the size of the club and its available resources
  •  Enhanced the image of Rotary in the community
  •  Been able to be emulated by other Rotary clubs
  •  Been active during the Rotary year for which the award is being given (though it need not have  been initiated, and may have been completed, in the current Rotary year)

Eligibility

Only projects carried out by a single club are eligible for this award, and only one club per district may be nominated.

Projects previously recognized with an RI Significant Achievement Award are not eligible.

Part of Rotary's success and global impact is due to its emphasis on local participation and input.  Rather than trying to solve a problem from an ocean away, Rotary empowers local communities to take ownership of the issue and solve it on their own.. Rotarians understand that service begins at home.  Our Rotary family excels at identifying local challenges and finding ways to address them.

The purpose of the Significant Achievement Award is to encourage new projects and promote an increased awareness of exemplary club efforts.  The Significant Achievement Award was created by the Rotary International Board of Directors in 1967 and in 1991, it became a component of the Presidential Recognition program.
