CELEBRATE NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH!
Whether it was the middle school teacher who believed in you, or the manager who let you fail and helped you to learn from your mistakes; we all have special role-models in our lives that helped us to become who we are today. Please join us throughout the month of January to celebrate National Mentoring Month, by taking time to thank those special formal (and informal) Mentors from your own life, and to consider becoming involved as a Mentor yourself.
The mission of the Mentor Program at CMY Inc. is to build long-lasting positive, caring relationships between young people (age 6-17) and Mentors that will help foster the individual growth and potential of each youth. Mentors and youth meet for one hour a week and share in fun, recreational activities together. Adults can also volunteer for a one-time mentoring opportunity to share their hobby or talents with a group of supervised youth. These are youth who really need a positive role model in their life, and can benefit greatly from the caring one-on-one attention of an adult who can help them to build a hopeful vision of their future. If you are interested in volunteering as a one-on-one Mentor, or for a one-time group activity please contact Gretchen at: gearle@commcc.org, or via phone at: 856-6100 x557. Visit our website: www.commcc.org/volunteer for more information, or to download an application.
CMY Inc. is a division of Community Counseling of Maine, Inc. Programs are funded in part by the United Way of Greater Portland and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Are you an Ageless Dreamer™ with an attitude worth having?
Imagine being born in 1906 and still dreaming of taking a ride on a Harley. How about dreaming of having your first art gallery event at ninety years old, or meeting a live donkey for the very first time at ninety-nine?
One of the earliest dreamers in the history of our Country was Benjamin Franklin; who, at the age of seventy years old signed the Declaration of Independence, and at the age of eighty-one, effected a compromise that enabled the Constitution of the United States to become the foundation of our law. That was one great ageless dream! The Ageless Dreamer Foundation supports the dreams of our oldest generation.
Volunteer driven, the Ageless Dreamer ™ Foundation welcomes the skills and talents of anyone interested in experiencing what’s involved in being part of a Dream Force making dreams comes true for our oldest generation. Visit our website at www.agelessdreamer.org
